Traval is no vacation
Today I'm sharing one of those crazy travel days that we keep experiencing.
It's now been 25 hours since we left our house in Marseille with two heavy suitcases. When we arrived at the airport, we were informed that our first flight to Amsterdam was so delayed that we would miss our connecting flight. Yet another disappointment. Things like this happen over and over again, bringing a certain emotional stress.
The consequences of this delay: spending the night in an unfamiliar place, rebooking the hotel in the Philippines, and cancelling the shuttle, if possible, only to find out that we missed the cancellation window by 25 minutes.
Now, 25 hours later, we're back at the airport after Air France at least paid for a hotel near the airport. The good news is: we’re now checked in and only have 26 hours ahead of us.
On the one hand, we love the life the Lord has prepared for us—200 travel days a year, this year across 25 nations.
… vacations look a little different.
But as Paul so beautifully said, we may be tired and sometimes even exhausted, but the inner person is being renewed.
We’re looking forward to the Philippines; we’re excited to train leaders from 14 nations across Asia and the Pacific.
We’re grateful for a fulfilled life—and somehow, we hope that on August 4th, it will “only” take us 21 hours to get back to Marseille.
Warm greetings from a happy couple at Marseille Airport.
Happy—because we’re experiencing this together.
